In der Idylle im Spreekanal schwimmt Beton als Boot: Unter einem grossen Baum ist plötzlich ein kleiner Ankerplatz für Betonboote entstanden. Die Parzelle scheint irgendwo ausgeschnitten und in dieses ausgesiedelte Stück von Berlin-Mitte eingesetzt worden zu sein.

Die drei rechtwinklig zum Ufer positionierten Betonboote sind rohe Betonblöcke von hohem Gewicht. Blöcke in der Art wie man sie als Beschwerungen von Baustellenvorrichtungen etc. verwendet. Durch ihre oben geschlossene blockhafte Form ohne jedes Detail nimmt das Auge sie eher als Prototyp denn als benutzbaren Gegenstand wahr. Die Raumsituation am Baum gerinnt somit zum dreidimensionalen Bild der Schwere dieser Körper.
Dass das Gewicht auf dem Wasser schwimmt, ist also nicht magisch, sondern einfach: Die Gravitation hat dem Beton hier eine Genehmigung zur Sondernutzung der o.g. Wasserfläche erteilt.

In an idyllic situation in Spreecanal concrete floats like boats. Under a big tree, a small anchoring place for concrete boats suddenly appears. The construction l ooks as if it were cut out somewhere in the countryside and shifted into this vast part of Berlin-Mitte.
The three concrete boats positioned diagonally to the bank are rough, solid, weighty blocks. The kind of blocks used to secure temporary signposts. Due to their block-like, generalised, closed forms, the eye perceives them more as prototypes than as usable objects. This perception condenses the spatial situation at the tree into a three dimensional image of the weight of these compounds.
The fact that these weights floats on water is not magic, but simple: Gravity granted a special permit for the authorized use of the above named waterway.
